Follow-up after breast cancer consists of breast examination, counselling, discussing individual side effects of for example antihormonal therapies or long term side effects after chemotherapy and finding individual solutions to maintain a good quality of life. In the first three years after diagnosis follow-ups sould be every three months, in the 4th and 5th year after diagnosis twice a year, and after 5 years only once a year.
Furthermore there should be a radiologic assessment of the breasts with MG or MRI depending on the type of surgery.
Breast cancer patients should have a yearly gynaecological check, which could be combined with breast cancer follow-up at my private practice.
